Valerie Johnson – Oakland

Valerie Johnson (she/her) currently works in the Oakland District Office of Senator Nancy Skinner as a Field Representative. Her work centers around connecting the community with resources available to them and representing the Senator in the district. Having grown up as the daughter of two public school educators, Valerie has dedicated much of her time advocating for equity and accessibility in higher education. In the past few years, she has been a part of multiple coalitions to advance and advocate for progressive policies to address basic needs insecurity and affordability on college campuses. She is a proud community college transfer student and a recent UC Berkeley alumna. Outside of work and advocacy, Valerie enjoys exploring the outdoors in the Bay Area and going on hikes.
