Shelby Houghton - 2025 NLC Boston Fellow
Shelby Houghton (she/her) is a New England grown public servant, artist, and optimist. In her role with the City of Boston, she coordinates projects that prevent, respond to, and recover from major emergencies. She also produces comedy, drag, and music shows with Fool's Freedom, empowering human rights and democracy through art. In 2022, Shelby graduated from the University of Connecticut, studying political science, human rights, and economics; she played in the marching band, DJ’d on college radio, and was selected as a Truman Scholarship finalist. Shelby is a board member for the Souhegan Valley Boys and Girls Club and a lifelong ‘Club kid’. When she isn’t moving and shaking, one can find her with loved ones, drinking cold brew, or hiking in the White Mountains.
