Sarah Jane Merritt

Sarah Jane (she/her) is a true Jersey girl with roots in Sussex, Ocean, Atlantic, Essex, and Union Counties who currently calls Monmouth County home. A Le Cordon Bleu-trained pastry chef, Sarah Jane pursued a successful career in the culinary world before a diagnosis of celiac disease forced her to pivot, leading her to start a queer-owned creative cake business during the early days of the pandemic with many of the profits going towards activist causes and mutual aid funds.

Sarah Jane’s commitment to community engagement has led her to pursue a career in activism and progressive politics. She recently completed her first professional campaign as the Director of Operations for a Democratic PAC, showcasing her dedication to fostering positive change in New Jersey. Deeply passionate about progressive food policy and environmental issues, Sarah Jane is committed to understanding the real-life consequences of these policies on disadvantaged populations.
