Renee Severyn
Renee Severyn - 2025 NLC Columbus Fellow
Renee Severyn (she/her) is a public defender representing individuals who have been sentenced to death in Ohio. Fighting in and against a deeply flawed criminal-justice system, she is a firm believer that each person is more than the worst thing they’ve ever done. Renee is passionate about educating others on the unique aspects of capital cases and the intersectional issues impacting our justice system. Originally from Southern California, Renee is now a proud Midwesterner—having called Cleveland, Minneapolis, and, now, Columbus home. She received her bachelor’s degree in political science from Lake Erie College and her juris doctorate from Case Western Reserve University. Outside of the office, you can find Renee baking gluten-free treats, engaging in her most recent crafting obsession, or spending time with horses.
