Muhammad Alameldin - Oakland
Muhammad T. Alameldin (he/him) is an Egyptian-Palestinian child of refugees, born and raised in the Central Valley. As a policy advocate and researcher, Muhammad is focused on the intersection of housing policy, financial reform, and youth empowerment. He started as a paid policy research intern for Mayor Tubbs’ office where he witnessed Stockton’s revolutionary Guaranteed Income pilot provide economic security for families in his hometown. Then, Muhammad moved to Washington D.C. to assist Pay Our Interns, where he successfully helped collaborate with Congress to establish a $17+ million annual paid internship fund on Capitol Hill. Recently, Muhammad was an Economic Equity Fellow at The Greenlining Institute, co-authoring a report finding more than $100 billion worth of investments from the private sector to low-to-moderate income communities. He also led a five-organization coalition behind Assembly Bill 946. Muhammad is currently a Policy Associate for UC Berkeley’s Terner Center for Housing Innovation, where he helps to make housing data into innovative housing policy. He joined NLC to learn how he can empower BIPOC communities to be at the table when leaders discuss housing policy.
