Meg O’Brien – Pittsburgh
Meg O’Brien is the Director of Economic Development at the Hilltop Alliance where she leads the business district programs in Allentown’s East Warrington Avenue corridor and Mt. Oliver’s Brownsville Road corridor. In this role, Meg supports small business owners, commercial property owners and entrepreneurs through a variety of programs. She also links prospective businesses to property owners with available space, helping to attract reinvestment and growth. Meg formerly worked for the Downtown Detroit Partnership in Detroit where she focused on strategic planning, community outreach and events in the parks and public spaces. She is interested in how the built environment influences social behavior and patterns, and passionate about creating spaces that allow people to connect. With a focus in community development, urban planning and social justice, Meg serves as a conduit between larger systems and resources, and community efforts. Meg studied Economics and Anthropology at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. She also holds a Masters in Public Policy from Trinity. Originally from Niskayuna, New York, Meg is excited to call Pittsburgh home, moving here to be with family. In her spare time, she enjoys biking, playing the saxophone and watching her nephews.
