Specializing in policy research, analysis, and project management, Matt Singer is currently Chief of Staff to Pittsburgh City Councilman Corey O’Connor. He has produced a portfolio of legislation on topics such as housing policy, municipal taxation and abatement, economic development, campaign finance, public safety reform, and government transparency, and was heavily involved in lead policy roles for the 2015 Paid Sick Days Act, 2018 budget amendments for millions in funding to support early childhood education resources, the City of Pittsburgh's 2018-2019 package of firearm control legislation, and 2020-2021 budget amendments for a sizable injection of funding for affordable housing and small business support during the Covid-19 pandemic. He has extensive experience working with stakeholders both internal and external to City Hall, managing community affairs, and serving as part of neighborhood and advocacy organizations, both in a professional and personal capacity. Matt, a resident of Pittsburgh’s North Side, holds a bachelor’s degree in politics and philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree in public management from Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy. He enjoys listening to whiny indie music, trying and failing to read old philosophy books, and tending to his cat, Lucy.
