Madeline Hicks

Madeline Hicks serves as the Outreach Director at Court Watch NOLA, a criminal justice reform nonprofit in New Orleans, LA. Prior to returning to Louisiana, she was the Communications Director for Integrity First for America, a nonprofit based in Manhattan bringing suit against the neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and white nationalists that attacked Charlottesville in 2017, killing Heather Heyer and injuring many others.

Madeline’s work is marked by service, including time on Secretary Clinton’s campaign in a critical swing state in 2016, an internship with the Orleans Public Defenders, a stint with a volunteer EMS service, and a year of service as Tulane University’s Undergraduate Student Government President. During that time, she oversaw a budget of roughly $3,000,000, and worked with students, faculty, and staff, to pass progressive reform aimed at undoing intersectional biases, preventing sexual assault on campus, increasing access to mental healthcare resources for students, and breaking down barriers for LGBTQIA+ students, students with disabilities, and students who do not come from financial privilege.

Hicks is motivated by breaking down barriers for people of all backgrounds and building coalitions to deliver power back to where it belongs, in the hands of the people. Hicks hopes to continue to work to create a coalition of progressive Louisianans concerned about the impact of climate change, environmental racism, systemic racism, particularly in the criminal legal system and law enforcement, and economic inequality that disproportionately impacts marginalized groups.
