Kristi Williams - 2025 NLC Tulsa Fellow
Kristi Williams, a descendant of survivors of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre and Creek Freedmen, is a National Geographic Explorer, community activist, historian, and advocate based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She is the founder and director of Black History Saturdays, a program dedicated to educating youth and adults about Black history and culture. Williams chairs the Beyond Apology Reparations Commission and serves as a member of the 1921 Tulsa Mass Graves Oversight Committee and the National Geographic Endowment Oklahoma Advisory Council.
She uses storytelling and advocacy to preserve history and push for equity. Williams is the first Black woman to serve on the Greater Tulsa African American Affairs Commission and has received numerous awards for her contributions to social justice and education.
