Katie Hurtado

Kat Cruz is a dedicated fundraising professional. Their passion for community and journalism informs her development work at NJPBS. They earned their Bachelor of Arts in Public and Nonprofit Administration from Rutgers. She has been recognized as a McNair Scholar and received the Richard W. Roper Scholarship in Civic Responsibility. As a first-generation low-income student, Kat laid the groundwork for their academic journey at the County College of Morris. In addition to her academic pursuits, she is a member of the American Society for Public Administration and the Association of Fundraising Professionals - New Jersey Chapter. Her professional journey seamlessly intertwines community development with administrative and development expertise gained through impactful roles.

A first-generation American, Kat's cultural background adds a unique and valuable perspective to her work. Residing in Essex County, NJ, they are eager to create an impact in their county and throughout the state.
