Special Assistant to Mayor LaToya Cantrell and City of New Orleans AmeriCorps VISTA Director, City of New Orleans

Justin L. Boone, a proud New Orleans native, was raised on the Westbank by his mother and grandmother. He was taught that hard work was an essential part of daily life and that we must collectively help and support one another. He focused on his education and graduated from Brother Martin High School with one of the highest class honors, the Golden Crusader award. He then went onto Louisiana State University and became heavily involved in volunteering, which led him to be the Chair of the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life. He graduated early in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Resources and Leadership Development. After college, he returned to New Orleans and began his professional career in the hospitality sector as a Human Resources Coordinator. In March of 2017, he began volunteering in the New Orleans Mayor’s race and was quickly hired to be a Field Coordinator. After a successful campaign, he was hired to be the Special Assistant to Mayor LaToya Cantrell, which afforded him the opportunity to be a project manager on multiple executive office projects. In addition, he serves as the Program Director for the City of New Orleans AmeriCorps VISTA program, which focuses on anti-poverty measures and organizational capacity building across eight city departments. He lives in the Broadmoor neighborhood, was elected as a Commissioner to the Broadmoor Improvement Association Board in 2018, and will serve as the Board President for 2021. He remains committed to the people of New Orleans and will continue to work towards a more progressive future for all.
