Julia Romano - 2025 NLC Columbus Fellow

Julia Romano is an educator and writer living on the South Side of Columbus. She teaches English and history at her local public high school, where she also founded the school’s Drama Club. Her mission is to improve public education—and the conversation around public education—in the state of Ohio.

Romano started her career in US foreign policy before making her transition to education. She earned BA from Wellesley College and an MA from The George Washington University, both in Middle Eastern Studies.

On the weekends, you can find her spending time with her husband and son, practicing yoga, reading, writing, or hiking. She is currently working on her second play and a novel, in addition to her Substack "Outfits, Ohio, and Other Things I Like."
