Jonathan Briggs - 2024 NLC Washington DC Fellow

Jonathan Briggs is the Associate Director of Public Engagement in the Office of the US Surgeon General, where he champions national public health priorities, focusing on mental health, social connection, and COVID-19 recovery. Previously, at America Forward, he contributed to presidential engagement, Whole-Learner Education, and evidence-based policies. As a Leadership for Educational Equity Fellow at the US Department of Education, he managed grant awardees and conducted assessments for program enhancement. On Capitol Hill, he played a key role in bills like the Strength in Diversity Act and the Time for Completion Act.

A dedicated educator, he taught through Teach for America and City Year Chicago and holds degrees from National Louis University, Johns Hopkins University, and Harvard University Graduate School of Education, with ongoing studies at Cornell Law School. He is dedicated to serving the Prince George's County community as a school board member and enjoys the arts.
