Joe Adkins - 2024 NLC San Francisco Fellow

Joe Adkins is an organizer and public servant passionate about civic engagement, equity, inclusion, and the arts. He was raised in Modesto, CA, before moving to San Francisco in 2010. A former professional ballet dancer, Joe has served on the Executive Board of the Harvey Milk LGBTQ Democratic Club, on San Francisco's LGBTQI+ Advisory Committee, and as Charter Community Service Chair and later as President of the Castro - Rotary Club, the first queer-cultured Rotary Club in the world. He received his BA in Political Science at SFSU, and has been awarded with a Rotary Paul Harris Fellowship, and been recognized for his work on the 2022 SF Redistricting Process by the SF Board of Supervisors.

He currently works in the Operations Division in the Office of the Clerk of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Joe currently lives in SoMa with his husband Edward, cat Maiqui, and puppy Stella.
