Jesus Trevino - 2024 NLC South TX Frontera Fellow

Jesus Treviño (b.1995) is an artist and art organizer from Brownsville, Texas. He received a BA in Studio Art from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (2018) and his MFA in Painting/Drawing at the University of Texas at Austin (2022). His art practice is rooted from his experience being raised on the U.S./Mexico border and deals with the history of movement in the region and its residual personal, emotional, and social effects. His work has been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout Texas and nationally and has attended art residencies such as Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Madison, Maine, and the Studios at Mass MoCA in North Adams Massachusetts.

Most recently he founded a nonprofit organization 501(c)(3) called “Frontera Arts in Bloom” which hosts an artist in residence program called the “Flower Shop Art Residency” in Brownsville, Texas.
