Jackie Olson – Wisconsin

Jackie Olson (she/they) is a social and environmental justice advocate. She believes safety and care mustn’t be reserved for those who present themselves as close to the norm as possible, and that communities require the power to determine their needs and have them met. Jackie attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she worked as a student intern at the Office of Sustainability and graduated in 2021. She has a bachelor’s degree in Landscape & Urban Studies and Environmental Studies. In 2020 she received the Michael Thorton and Nora Medina Social Innovation Award from the Morgridge Center for Public Service for her Wisconsin Idea Fellowship with community partner Nuestro Mundo. In 2021 she received the Alanen-Bjorkman Award from the Department of Planning and Landscape Architecture for her devotion to cultural landscapes and history. Jackie lives in Madison, WI where she enjoys walks down Lakeshore Nature Preserve and touring farmers' markets. She is applying to law schools and hopes to enroll in a program come Fall 2022. Jackie grew up just outside of Chicago, where she frequently visits. She is passionate about every individual’s right to fair housing and adequate, nutritious food and looks forward to transforming the communities she calls home.
