Born of Corean immigrants, raised in the Los Angeles Area & the Inland Empire, Howard Cha-Young Kim (he/him) now resides in Chicago with his spouse & partner Kimberly Ayala Najera and adorable dog Oliver. But Koreatown LA will always be home.
Howard is a pastor, scholar, loves all things food and music, plays too many video games, and longs for a better world. He has served in AAPI, Black Queer centered, multiethnic, and Corean immigrant churches since 2010. He’s devoted to working with(in) marginalized communities to help imagine & enflesh post/decolonial spiritual spaces that fight for healing & liberation/abolition.
Howard is a proud community college student from Mt. San Antonio College, finishing his B.A. in Religious Studies at UCLA in 2014. He went on to graduate magna cum laude from Duke University's Divinity School in 2020, receiving a M.Div with a concentration in Homiletics.
