Essence Spencer

Essence Spencer (she/ her) is a program coordinator who leads community partnerships and student retention / recruitment in the tech industry. She is a first - generation college graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz and is originally from Baltimore, Maryland but moved to the San Francisco Bay Area with her mom to pursue new opportunities at 15 years old. She currently provides free access to design workshops and resources to middle - high school aged youth throughout the SF Bay Area and surrounding cities. She believes that there is so much beauty in community and recognizing that design is not monolithic so everyone's form of expression is unique. She is passionate about self - agency, inclusivity, and authenticity in ones life and continues to look forward to building community and uplifting the voices of the youth.
