Donte Bates
Donte Bates - 2024 NLC Palm Beach Fellow
Donte Bates is a life long resident of the Riviera Beach community. Growing up in an underserved area of the city led to challenging teenage years culminating in an arrest and prison time. These formative experiences led to a commitment to share his story and advocate for the at-risk youth and families of his community. Donte formed a nonprofit, in the pursuit of creating opportunities for the community to pursue a pathway different from his own story. He was one of twelve men recently selected for Project 12 Black Man of the Year 2024 calendar. The calendar showcases positive examples of African American male leadership in Palm Beach and Broward Counties. He and his wife enjoy time with family and friends and, when time allows, he enjoys fishing. He looks forward to continuing his work in support of his community.
