Desiree Smith

Desiree Smith has a deep commitment to racial justice, community development, and educational equity. At the University of Michigan, she manages the liberal arts college’s flagship mentorship program, an academic year-long initiative that facilitates professional relationships between current students and alums.

Desiree received her A.B. in Political Science from the University of Chicago, and her M.A. in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Michigan. She is a Gates Millennium Scholar and received full funding for both her undergraduate and graduate degrees. She is an active member of the Ann Arbor Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. In her spare time, she enjoys singing in choir, solving escape rooms, and spending time with friends and family.
