Dani Mendez
Dani Mendez - 2024 NLC Chicago Fellow
Dani Mendez (he/him) currently serves in Illinois state government as a legislative liaison and has a passion for public service. He strongly believes that government’s primary role is to improve the life of every person, especially communities that have been marginalized. Previously, Dani served with AmeriCorps as an NCCC member in Mississippi, AmeriCorps VISTA for Housing Action Illinois, and as a Crew Leader for the Appalachian Conservation Corps. After finishing his term of service, he worked for the Illinois General Assembly House Democrats as a Research and Appropriations analyst.
During his time with the General Assembly, Dani drafted and analyzed legislation, worked on the state’s human services budget, and became the lead Human Services and Medicaid staffer. He holds a B.A. in political science from Loyola University Chicago.
