Carolina Montes, a first-generation Colombian American and Morris County native, is an intergovernmental affairs senior aide in New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy's office, where she facilitates communication between federal, state, and local officials. As her family's eldest daughter, she became their first advocate in the U.S., fueling her passion for prison reform, immigrant integration, and reproductive justice.
Carolina is pursuing a master's in public administration at Rutgers School of Public Affairs and Administration. She earned a bachelor's in political science and Latino and Caribbean studies, graduating magna cum laude from Rutgers University. Drawing from her U.S. Senate experience and community work, Carolina is committed to creating equitable opportunities for underrepresented groups. In her free time, she enjoys being with her family and her dog, Kihra.
