Brianna Wells – Oakland
Brianna Wells believes that health and healing are integral to liberation and racial justice. Brianna is committed to dismantling structural violence and reimagining a future where widespread well-being is realized. She plans to pursue graduate studies that allow her to explore the social and cultural underpinnings of health outcomes, and put reproductive justice into practice. As a recently trained birth worker, Brianna aims to begin the work of supporting the well-being of pregnant people and their families by embracing ancestral wisdom and traditions of community care. Brianna is currently the Research & Evaluation Coordinator at Roots Community Health Center, where she engages East Oakland’s Black community through focus groups and patient advisory councils. Born and raised in Michigan, Brianna graduated with distinction from the University of Michigan in 2020. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Public Policy with a concentration in Social Welfare & Health Equity Policy and a minor in Gender & Health. Brianna now lives in Oakland, where you can find her spending time on hiking trails in the mountains, trying her hand at various crafty projects, gardening whenever possible, and tackling her impossibly long Goodreads reading list.
