Andy Escobar - 2024 NLC Houston Fellow
Andy Escobar (he/they|el/elle) was born/raised in northwest Houston on the Jones Road Superfund Site and proudly identifies as a bisexual non-binary man. Andy currently works as the Campaigns Manager with Coalition for Environment, Equity, and Resilience (commonly known as CEER). He comes from a traditional working class, disabled, Tejano family with roots in the Rio Grande Valley/Tamaulipas, Mexico. In 2015, they became a First Generation graduate from The University of Texas at Austin with three bachelor’s degrees in Radio-Television-Film, Latin American Studies, and Women's & Gender Studies. Andy holds over ten years of facilitation and community organizing experience across progressive movements. He is the Vice-President of Impulse Houston - a chapter of the global non-profit Impulse Group - to connect, engage, and support gay men and their social/sexual networks. They are a stereotypical Taurus/millennial/dog parent that has not eaten meat since 2007 and is passionate about building a better world.
