AnaKaren Manriquez Prado – Wisconsin
Born in León, Guanajuato Mexico, Ana and her family immigrated to the South Side of Milwaukee when she was six years old. She attended Tufts University where she triple-majored in Community Health, International Relations, and Spanish with a minor in Latino Studies. Currently, she works as IRB Coordinator II at the Medical College of Wisconsin Office of Research. In her role, she supports various study teams to ensure research in our communities is conducted ethically and intentionally. Additionally, she is an ÉXITO! Latino Cancer Research Training Intern where she is studying the impact of yoga and meditation on quality of life for Latinx cancer survivors. Prior to her current work, Ana was Research Program Coordinator II at the MCW Cancer Center for multiple federally funded programs focused on cancer disparities and wellness for Latinx and Black/African American communities. Ana also leads an independent research project for a Diversity Supplement and Training grant awarded to her by the National Institutes of Health. Blending her vast research interests and experiences, Ana’s passions lie in health & wellness equity-at every size-for BIPOC communities. Currently, she serves on the Research Action Committee for the Milwaukee Latino Health Coalition and plans on returning to graduate school to pursue her Ph.D. Ana loves learning new things, practicing different forms of meditation, walking outdoors with her pets, and cooking exciting plant-based foods.
