Allyson Velez
Allyson Velez - 2024 NLC Sacramento Fellow
Allyson Velez (she/her) is dedicated to utilizing policy as a vehicle for uplifting traditionally marginalized communities. Raised in an immigrant household, she became acutely aware of the disparities the Latinx community navigates, particularly through a public health lens. The first in her family to attend a four-year university, Allyson pursued state-based advocacy as a student through the Cal-in-Sacramento Fellowship and John Gardner Public Service Fellowship. Allyson received a B.A. in public health with a minor in public policy from the University of California, Berkeley, and currently works at the California Health and Human Services Agency. She hopes to continue learning from the Sacramento community and advancing policies that seek to meet the needs of all Californians. In her free time, Allyson enjoys boxing, running, and trying new restaurants.
