Alissandra Valdez - 2024 NLC Los Angeles Fellow

Born and raised in the Los Angeles area, Alissandra Valdez (she/her) is an advocate for tenant's rights, racial, and environmental justice. She is passionate about creating change through collective action, and is committed to building a just future with housing, healthcare, and education for all.

Alissandra is a co-founder of the Burbank Tenants Union, an organization that was instrumental in passing the first renter protection ordinance in the city’s history. Since 2021, she has served as a Commissioner on the Sustainable Burbank Commission. She currently works at CicLAvia, a nonprofit organization that creates car-free streets across LA County and advocates for transportation justice.

Alissandra received her bachelor’s degree in Communication from UCLA. In her free time, she enjoys going on walks in her neighborhood, gardening, and going to the movies with friends!
