Abdul Hanif – Oakland
Abdul Hanif (he/him) is a technology professional who is passionate about immigrant rights and equitable economic development. He believes no one should be held back from pursuing their dreams due to their immigrant status or their socioeconomic background. In his current role at Facebook / Instagram, Abdul works to keep its platforms safe from bad actors. Abdul also serves as the Global Operations Lead for Interfaith at Facebook, a role through which he is able to influence the safe and thoughtful product building across the company. He serves on the Board of the Alameda County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), through which he works to improve the outcomes for children facing the complex foster care system. Abdul attended Columbia University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics and statistics in 2014. At Columbia, he served as the Chair of the Student Governing Board and worked on bridging gaps between various on-campus communities. Abdul lives in Oakland where he enjoys exploring small businesses of all sorts: from coffee shops and gyms to flower stores and barbershops. He enjoys crosswords, sports, spontaneous adventures, and is always looking for parks that are good for outdoor workouts.
