Todd Rogers, Executive Director – Analyst Institute

Todd RogersWorked as Democratic pollster before going to get my PhD at Harvard in organizational behavior and psychology. Have been founding Executive Director of the Analyst Institute for last four years. We work with AFL-CIO, SEIU, Rock The Vote, League of Conservation Voters, EMILYs List, and dozens of other progressive groups around the country. We use the insights and methods of behavioral science to optimize voter contact programs. This entails using randomized experiments and the psychology of human decision making to develop and evaluate political innovations.

I will begin as an assistant professor of public policy at Harvard Kennedy School this fall. I will continue working with the Analyst Institute on a consulting basis to help progressive political organizations become more effective, and will also take this general approach to education to develop and evaluate behavioral science inspired tactics to help teachers become more effective in the classroom.

The most important biographical element in my development is the fact that I had cancer as a young adult, and have spent many summers since working as a volunteer counselor at a camp for children with cancer. This experience, and these inspiring kids, help keep what matters in sharp relief and keep everything else in perspective.
